  Phyllis J. Epping, 78, of Payson, Illinois, died at 9:19 p.m. Wednesday (February 10, 2016) in her home.

   Born February 27, 1937 in Quincy, Phyllis was the daughter of Chester and Lucille Batson Shaw.  She married Richard A. Epping on October 3, 1954 in Quincy. He survives.

   Phyllis enjoyed going on walks and long car rides. She loved collecting western nic-nacs and American eagle figurines and was a big John Wayne fan, watching any movie he was in.

   Phyllis devoted her life to raising her family and she cherished every moment she spent with them.

   Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Richard; six sons, Richard L. Epping (Lisa) of Fowler, IL, Ron Epping (Therese) of Quincy, Steve Epping of Payson, Terry Epping of Payson, Chris Epping (Julie) of Winters, CA and Michael Epping of Payson; three daughters, Brinda Crumley of Quincy, Jane Epping of Maquoketa, IA and Nancy Epping of Hannibal, MO; 20 grandchildren; many loving great grandchildren; four sisters, Sharon Johnson, Betty Rigg, Ethel Beeler and Linda Shaw; and several nieces and nephews.

   Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William A. Epping; a brother, Bill Shaw; and three sisters, Ramona Allen, Juanita Shaw and Wanda Shaw.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Pastor Greg Javaux.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the family to help with expenses.

So sorry to hear about Phyllis. I always enjoyed talking to her on one of her many walks around town. She is now in Heaven as one of Gods Angels.
