HERSCHEL  COOLEY  SR.

   Herschel Cooley Sr., 72, of Quincy, died at 7:53 a.m. Sunday (May 1, 2016) in Hannibal Regional Hospital.

   Born July 21, 1943 in Pittsfield, Illinois, Herschel was the son of Bernard and Ruby House Cooley.  He married Sharon Lynn Raymond on July 16, 1969 in Palmyra, Missouri.  She preceded him in death on September 24, 2015.

   Herschel was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 100 in Quincy. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed going to stock car races and loved to keep busy with work.

   Herschel was employed for 20 years at Gardner Denver Company in Quincy. In 1987 he began his own business, Herschel's Lawn Care which he currently operated.

   Survivors include three sons, Herschel Cooley Jr. (Barb) of Jordan, MN, Michael Cooley (Carrie) of Topeka, KS and Shawn Cooley (Amber) of Hannibal, MO; sixteen grandchildren, Tony Cooley (Allie), Stephanie Cooley, Gabrielle Cooley, Ben Cooley, Hannah Cooley, Joshua Cooley, Shevie Cooley, Curtis Cooley, Brice Cooley, Alexandria Cooley, Curtis Sederwall, Austin Chapman, Brooklyn Cooley, Chase Banks, Drake Dudley and Karter Reed; three great grandchildren; two brothers, David Cooley (Patsy) of Quincy and Mike Cooley (Connie) of Quincy; a sister, Wanda Jenkins (Stan) of Fishhook, IL; and many  loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Cooley was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon; and two sisters, Bonnie Kurfman and Linda Sue in infancy.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.  Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery, Fishhook, Illinois.

   Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Thursday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Heart Center.
