KENNETH M. ARROWSMITH

   Kenneth M. Arrowsmith, 73 of Quincy died at 12:25 a.m. Sunday (May 8, 2016) in his home.

   Born October 26, 1942 in Quincy, Kenneth was the son of James Kenneth and Imogene Crossan Arrowsmith Winters.  He was first married to Carolyn Sue Arrowsmith Schroder.  He later married Susan Gamble on March 17, 2000 in Quincy.  She survives.

   Kenneth served his country in the United States Navy.  He was a computer whiz, loved to sing karaoke, enjoyed playing in the Quincy Pool Leagues, was a professional sleeper and a Rush Limbaugh freak.  

   Kenneth had been employed as a Railroad Engineer for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years, until his retirement in 2002.

   Survivors include his mother, Imogene Winters of Quincy; his wife, Susan Gamble Arrowsmith of Quincy; two children from his former marriage, Kenneth J. Arrowsmith of Quincy and Penny S, Arrowsmith of Medina, OH; nine step children, Sheila Thomas, Stephanie Poole, Shawn McCune, Dustin McCune, Sarah Jackson, Danielle Voth, Stephen McCune, Danya Cunningham and Landon Dreyer; a granddaughter he helped to raise, Amber Mason Meier; two step sisters; and numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.  Also surviving is his friend and caregiver, Robert Landwehr of Quincy.  

   Mr. Arrowsmith was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth J. Arrowsmith; one brother, Roger Arrowsmith; and a step brother David Winters.  

   Cremation rites have been accorded to Kenneth. Graveside services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veteran's Home with Pastor Anthony Cunningham officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Funeral Honors Detail and the Quincy American Legion Post No. 37.

   Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the Victorious Living Program at Grandview Church.
