   Rodney M. Poulter, 81, of Liberty died at 12:10 a.m. Friday (July 1, 2016) at his residence.

   Born August 13,1934 in Lima, Township Rodney was the son of Virgil and Hazel Booher Poulter. He married Shirley A. Howe on December 6, 1953 in La Harpe, Illinois. She survives.

  Rodney served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of the Beverly United Methodist Church, Payson Masonic Lodge  No.379, Quincy Consistory, Ansar Shrine Temple in Springfield, Illinois, the Quincy Shrine Club, Quincy High Twelve No. 40, and the Liberty American Legion Post No. 640.  He was also a member of the Adams County Farm Bureau and served as the Beverly Township Republican Precinct Committeeman for several years. Rodney enjoyed crossbow and shotgun hunting and he especially loved to spend time at all the family gatherings.

  Rodney and his wife farmed in Beverly Township and owned and operated Poulter Spreading Trucking service for 27 years.  He also managed the Adams FS Fertilizer Facility in Kingston for 24 years until his retirement in 1993.

   Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a son, Brad Poulter (Jan); three daughters, Pamela Sue White (Bill), Debra Kay Lease (Bob), and Patricia Ann Huddleston (Cliff) all of Liberty; eight grandchildren, Monica Maple (Carl), Tiffany Kennedy (Keith), Bobby Lease (Robin), Major Lucas Lease (Kathy), Matthew Poulter (Julia), Andy Poulter (Natalie), Sarah Miller (Adam), Jessica Huddleston and fiance' Brenton Douglas; and twelve great grandchildren, Emily and Evan Maple, Taylor, Brandon, Aaron and Gabriel Lease, Nathan, Nicholas and Nora Poulter, Caleb Huddleston,  Jacob and Zachary Miller.  Also surviving are two brothers Richard Poulter (Elsie) of Ft. Madison, IA, Dewayne Poulter (Rita) of Dallas City, IL; two sisters Bonnie Kershner of Bushnell, IL and Shirley Lieurance of Burlington, IA; a sister-in-law Ellen Poulter of Blandinsville, IL and a brother-in-law Dale Emery of Mendon, IL.

  Mr. Poulter was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Bobby Ryan Lease, two infant brothers Donald and Herschel, Glenn, Russell, Gerald, Kenny and Francis Poulter; four sisters Kay Ann Thacker, Betty Emery, Janet Cox and Dorothy Hoener; four brothers-in-law Gib Hoener, Roy Kershner, Charley Cox and Stephen Lieurance; two  sisters-in-law Phyllis Poulter and Mary Ellen Poulter.

  Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. in the Liberty Christian Church with Pastor Lois Sorrill officiating.  Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.  The Quincy and Liberty American Legion Posts and the US Navy Funeral Honors will conduct military services at the graveside.

   Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy and Tuesday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the Liberty Christian Church.

   Masonic rites will performed by the Payson Masonic Lodge No. 379 Monday evening 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital.

Brad and family - we are sorry for your loss and have experienced the passing of my brother in the last six months... so we share in your pain. Your dad sounds like a very accomplished individual and we our sure you are very proud of his life achievements. We will be thinking about you and your family. You are in our prayers. Take care.
