   Donald C. Thompson, 95 of Quincy, died at 12:33 p.m. Saturday (August 27, 2016) in North Adams Home.

   Born April 20, 1921 in Adams County, Illinois, Donald was the son of George and Anna Meyer Thompson.  He married Ella M. Hawley on June 12, 1947 in Louisiana, Missouri.  She preceded him in death on April 29, 2000.

   Mr. Thompson served his country in the Army during World War II in Rhineland and Central Europe.  He was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church and a graduate of Bowen High School. Don was a life member of Lambert Masonic Lodge No. 659 and a former member of the Quincy Area Travel Trailer Club.  He did volunteer work for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at the Senior Center and also at Blessing Hospital.

   Mr. Thompson was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Company in the Special Equipment Maintenance Department for 37 years, until his retirement in 1983.

   Survivors include his daughter, Nancy Overlander (Maurice) of Osage Beach, MO; two grandchildren, Erin Lucas (Keith) of Linn Creek, MO and Scott Overlander (Stacy) of Wentzville, MO.  Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Anna and Ethan Lucas; and a nephew, Lowell Thompson of Plymouth, IL.

   Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a half brother, Ray Thompson; two half sisters, Gayla Meyer and Lucille Young; and a nephew, Loren Thompson.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Sheri Renner officiating.  Burial with Military Honors by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

   Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 in the funeral home.  Lambert Masonic Lodge No. 659 will conducted Masonic Services at 10:45.

   Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to Vermont Street United Methodist Church.
