   Karl R. Harper, 77, of Plainville, Illinois, died at 7:33 p.m. Wednesday (August 31, 2016) in the Barry Community Care Center.

   Born January 2, 1939 in Edina, Missouri, Karl was the son of James Thomas and Alice Fern Clouser Harper.  He married Willeyne Menzel on January 4, 1964 in Luther Memorial Church in Quincy.  She survives.

   An avid golfer, Karl enjoyed playing with his friends at Arrowhead Heights Golf Course in Camp Point. He also loved watching Nascar.

   Karl was employed for 42 years at Electric Wheel and Titan Wheel. He retired June 15, 2001.

   Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Willeyne; a son, Mike Harper (Karen) of Quincy; two brothers, Don Harper of Flint, MI and Bill Harper of Hobart, IN; four sisters, Lottie Rashotte, Joyce Mason and Carolyn Harper all of Edina, MO and Darlene Scearce of Wentzville, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lovell Dean Harper and Orville Harper; and a sister, Wanda Gillespie.

   Cremation has been accorded to Mr. Harper.  Memorial services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy with Pastor Mike McKenzie officiating.  Private inurnment will be held in Stewart Cemetery in Plainville.

   Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home in Quincy.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center or the Barry Community Care Center.

Willy, I am so sorry to hear about Karl. He is one of the finest men that I have met since I have been in Plainville. May God rest his soul and may God be with you and the family in the coming days.
