   William Robert "Bill" Rupert, 80, of Quincy, died at 1:22 a.m. Saturday (December 17, 2016) in St. Vincent's Home.

   Born August 21, 1936 in Barry, Illinois, Bill was the son of Carson and Maxine Davidson Rupert. He married Martha Jane Lee on June 9, 1961 in Hannibal, Missouri.  She survives.

   Bill was an active member of Central Baptist Church where he was a member of the Co Builder's Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39, Quincy Consistory and was a Past Patron of Alpha Chapter 109 Order of Eastern Star and Past Watchman of Shepherd Miriam White Shrine of Jerusalem and he was a former member of the Quincy Shrine Club.  Bill was an avid golfer, trout fisherman and St. Louis Cardinals fan, but his passion was his involvement with  BMX
Racing, traveling the country to attend events and he served as an announcer at many events over the years.

   Bill was employed at Gardner Denver Company for 53 years until his retirement and was a member of the Gardner Denver Quarter Century Club.

   Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Jane; a son, James Parker Rupert (Donna) of Quincy; a daughter, Amy Leebold (Rick) of Palmyra, MO; four grandchildren, Jenna Rupert of Quincy, Donovan Rupert of Quincy, Ashley Tarpin (Tyler) of Canton, MO and Justin Sheurman of Bowen, IL; two great grandchildren, Adalyn Jane Tarpin and Brantley Robert Sheurman; a brother, Carson Gay (Mary) of Quincy; a sister, Betty Kay Fusco of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Bill was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Parker James Rupert; and his brother in law, Luca Fusco.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 in Central Baptist Church with Pastor James Harper officiating.  Burial will be in Parklawn Cemetery in Barry, Illinois.

   Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Wednesday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at Central Baptist Church. Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39 will conduct Masonic Services Tuesday evening at 7:00 at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church or the Shriner's Childrens Hospital.

Bill's favorite saying was cantankerous, with us boys at Gardner Denver. I remember him well .
