Dorothy M. Neff, 85, of Quincy, died at 7:05 p.m. Monday (December 19, 2016) in Timber Point Healthcare Center in Camp Point.

Born October 15, 1931 in Pike County, Illinois, Dorothy was the daughter of Harry and Edith Harris Orr.  She married J. Birney Neff on December 28, 1951 in Hannibal, Missouri.  He preceded her in death on May 5, 1998.

Dorothy had been an active member of Faith Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday School and was very involved with the Missionettes.  She enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat Ladies, crocheting and bluegrass music, going to many festivals over the years.  Dorothy's greatest joy was her family and she loved babysitting her grandchildren and being active in their lives.

Dorothy was employed at Grandview Manor Nursing Home, later Timber Point Nursing Home in Camp Point as the Activity Director for 16 years and then for 10 years in the cafeteria at Moorman Manufacturing until her retirement.  Dorothy was also a volunteer EMT with the Adams County Ambulance Service for many years.

Survivors include her daughter, Cammie Reeves (Coby) of Paloma, IL; her son, Kevin Neff (Peggy) of Loraine, IL; four grandchildren, Amber Neff, Cory Reeves (Emily), Chase Reeves and Caylee Reeves; two great grandchildren, Carter Reeves and Sawyer Reeves and one great grandson due in April 2017; a brother, Warren Orr (Pat) of Pittsfield, IL; a sister in law, Becky Orr of Hannibal, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Neff was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Birney; and two brothers, Bill Orr and Don Orr (Annette).

Graveside services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:00 in Greenmount Cemetery with Pastor V. Lee Amsler officiating.

There is no visitation but friends are invited to attend the graveside services.  The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Timber Point Nursing Home or Riverside Community Church.

To Kevin and Cammie, Please accept my sincere condolences for the passing of your Mom. She was a True Dear Christian by her quiet actions who never attempted to shine any light on herself. Your Mom was a blessing to many little girls and young ladies during her service to the Lord with Missionettes and Sunday School. I appreciated her steadfastness to her Faith and she is tonight reunited with your Dad. Oh, the Homecomings we will have someday all together in Heaven.
God Bless you,

Paula Wert

I loved your Mom. She used to babysit me when we all lived in the country as neighbors. I remember her so well and always enjoyed being with her. My heart aches. Came to see her several years ago. Walked in and she called my by name. Her roommate said it was remarkable. She and Bernie were special to me as I was growing up. She left her footprints in my life.
