   Darlene M. Selvy, 92, of the Barry Community Care Center, formerly of Plainville, Illinois, died at 12:50 a.m. Monday (January 9, 2017) in the Barry Community Care Center.

   Born July 11, 1924 in  Adams County, Illinois, Darlene was the daughter of  Joseph and Flora Brockschmidt  Loos.  She married Robert W. Selvy on May 26, 1946 in Quincy.  He preceded her in death on January 11, 2009.

   Darlene was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed watching TV Gameshows.  She was devoted to her family and was especially proud to have five generations in her family.

   Darlene was employed at Woolworths and then for many years at Modern Dairy until her retirement. Darlene also helped with anything and everything on the family farm for most of her life.

   Survivors include two daughters, Karen Gerding (Dan) of Plainville, IL and Sandy Smith (George) of Barry, IL;  four grandchildren, Bob Myers (Kim) of Quincy, Carrie Moore (Chris) of Barry, IL, Jennie Smith of Columbia, MO and Kevin Gerding (Ashlyn) of Plainville, IL; three great grandchildren, Brandon Inman (Gabby Geise),  Breanna Myers (Stephan McMillan) and Harper Gerding; a great great granddaughter, Olivia McMillan; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; two brothers, Glenn Loos (Mary Ann) and Harry Carter (Verna); and a sister in infancy, Dorothy Loos.

   Funeral services will be held  Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy with Pastor Steve Disseler officiating.  Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

   Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Thursday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Barry Community Care Center or to Homeward Bound Waggin of Quincy.
