   Dorothy V. Beckman, 89, of Quincy, died at 7:17 a.m. Monday (January 16, 2017) in St. Vincent's Home.

   Born January 29, 1927, in Shelby County, Missouri, Dorothy was the daughter Glen and Valience Connaway Doyle.  She married Edward Beckman on September 9, 1950, in Hannibal, Missouri.  He preceded Dorothy in death in March of 1996.

   Dorothy was a 1945 graduate of Shelbina, Missouri High School and a 1948 graduate of the Blessing Hospital School of Nursing through the Army Cadet Corps.  She was a member of the Blessing Alumnae and enjoyed quilting and her Cat, Lady Bug.  Dorothy's passion in life was her grandchildren and the time she spent with them.

   Dorothy was employed as an RN at Blessing Hospital as Staff Nurse, ER Nurse, Operating Room Nurse and House Supervisor.  She also was employed at St. Mary's Hospital as an Operating Room Nurse and Assistant Supervisor.  Dorothy then worked as an Office Nurse at Dr. Hollister's Office for 17 years and was last employed at the Illinois Veteran's Home as the third shift Charge Nurse in Schapers Hospital.  She retired in 1990 after working 40 years as an RN.

   Survivors include three grandchildren, Michael Beckman (Rita) of Oconomowoc, WI, Tiffiny Shaffer of Mendon and Jason Beckman (Kimberly) of Quincy; 6 great grandchildren, Cassie Flachs, Mariah Bolterman, Madelyn Beckman, Joseph Shaffer, Christopher Shaffer and Olivia Beckman; one brother, Jim Doyle (Sally) of Columbia, MO; one sister, Sara Ratledge of Canton, MO; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Mrs. Beckman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; two sons, Jay and J. Todd Beckman; and one brother, Glen Doyle.

   Graveside services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Steve Disseler officiating.

   Memorials may be made to the Quincy Humane Society.

   Arrangements are with the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.

I was sorry to hear of the death of my Aunt, Dorothy Beckman. I will remember her in my prayers. I offer you my sympathy. May she rest in peace
and share the joy of the risen Lord.

So sorry to hear about Dorothy. She was a wonderful and loving person. She made a quilt for my Grandson 18 years ago. I now have it hanging in my bedroom. She also made dolls out of panty hose for my kids. My Grandkids still play with them. She will be remembered.
