BERTHA L. WHEAT  BENNETT

   Bertha Louise Wheat Bennett, 86, of Quincy, died at 4:00 p.m.Monday (February 6, 2017) in Blessing Hospital.

   Born September 23, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri, Bertha was the daughter of James Alexander Taft and Ellen Irene Taft Franklin. She married Charles W. Wheat on  June 20, 1947 in St. Charles, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1992.  She married Marion Harold Bennett on January 13, 1994 in Yuma, Arizona. He preceded her in death on December 10, 2009.

   Bertha was devoted to raising her family and cherished every moment she spent with them.  Her hobbies included crocheting and sewing.

   Survivors include four daughters, Linda Taylor (Terry) of Wappapello, MO, Mary Foster (Ron) of Savannah, TN, Kelly Berry (Tom) of Quincy and Shirley Pigg (Mike) of Quincy; eleven grandchildren, Robert Taylor (Tina), Vincent Foster (Tia), April Foster, Matthew Taylor, Heather Thomas (Darren), Jonathan Berry, Kelsey Pigg-Steinkamp (John), Caitlin Thomas (Zach), Casey Pigg, Connor Pigg and Mirriah Berry; many loving great grandchildren; a sister Ollie Martin (Bobby) of Wappapello, MO; and several nieces and nephews.

   Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and two brothers, Paul Taft and James Taft.

   Cremation has been accorded to Bertha. Graveside memorial services will be held Wednesday (February 15, 2017) at 11:15 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with Pastor Dennis Thomas officiating.  
  
   There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside service.

   Arrangements are in the care of  the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.

   Memorials may be made to the Blessing Heart Center.

My deepest condolences on Bertha's passing. She was a wonderful woman who raised some amazing daughters. I have many fond memories of your great mom and ALL of the spaghetti dinners I ate at your house, and that parrot...

I was so sad to hear of your mothers passing. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
