ROBERT L. HUNTLEY
Robert L. Huntley, 94, of Boerne, Texas, formerly of Quincy, died at 10:55 a.m. Sunday (February 12, 2017) at Town and Country Manor in Boerne, Texas.
Born February 19, 1922 in Hadley, Illinois, Robert was the son of Harland and Rosa Root Huntley. He married Della E. Thomas on June 6, 1938 in Hannibal, Missouri. She preceded him in death on June 9, 2012.
Mr. Huntley served his country in the U. S. Army Air Force during WW II.
Robert was a people person. He enjoyed watching people and was one who never met a stranger, always talking and telling jokes with everyone he met. He had a great sense of humor and always said, "If you can't tell or listen to a good joke, life wasn't worth living." Robert also enjoyed watching and feeding the squirrels and was an avid San Antonio Spurs Basketball Fan. He was a devoted family man who loved every moment he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Robert was employed in the Mintrate Department as a crane operator for Moorman Manufacturing for 33 years, retiring in 1975.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlene Shoup of Quincy and Mardell Leerhoff (Merle) of Boerne, TX; two sons, Richard W. Huntley (Barbara) of Loraine, IL and Ronald E. Huntley (Sharon) of Loveland, OH; a son in law, Michael Hendricks of Quincy; seventeen grandchildren; forty nine great grandchildren; thirty eight great great grandchildren; a brother, Elmo Huntley of Marion, IN; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Della; a daughter, Karen Sue Hendricks; a granddaughter, Kristin M. Hendricks; a great grandchild, Miki Barton; a son in law, Gerald W. Shoup; a brother and sister in law, Lorraine and Mildred Huntley; a sister and brother in law, Marjorie and Layo Sprague; and a sister in law, Bea Huntley.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be in Kinderhook Cemetery, Kinderhook, Illinois.
Visitation will be Friday from 11:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.
