BONITA  A. RODBERG

Bonita  A.  Rodberg , 81, of Quincy, passed from this life to her eternal life at 11:28 p.m. Wednesday (March 1, 2017) in her home.

Born August 27, 1935 in Quincy, Bonita was the daughter of Charles P. and Ruby A. Fisk Lewis.  She married Eric Gustave Rodberg Jr. on May 2, 1969 in Quincy.  He preceded her in death on December 1, 2014.

Bonita enjoyed tending to her flower garden, cooking and she loved being with her family, especially the many trips she took to Texas to see her grandchildren.  Bonita's favorite time of year was Christmas. She loved shopping, wrapping presents and making christmas candy and the many hundreds of christmas cookies she baked for family and friends. She was always willing to give of her time to help others and for telling others that they "earned a star in their crown". Bonita lived her life in a way that she has many stars in her crown.

Bonita devoted her life to raising and caring for her family and also had worked as a caregiver and sitter for Sunset Supportive Services for many years.

Survivors include three daughters, Diana Myers (Dave) of Quincy, Juel Spindler of Bastrop, TX and Krista Huffman (Joshua) of Quincy; three sons, Charles Dawson (Bonnie Sullinger) of Meredosia, IL, Edgar Dawson (Linda) of Quincy and Daniel Dawson (Debra) of Brentwood, TN; sixteen grandchildren, Troy Dawson (Lori), Tracy Lewis, Adam Dawson, Brian Myers (Jenny), Julie Myers, Tim Dawson (Megan), John Spindler, Chelsea Musgrove, Jenny Chewning (Errict), Joey Dawson, Avery Spindler Cooper (Collin),  Allison Smith, Victoria Spindler, Amy Dawson, Noah Smith and Zoey Huffman; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara R. Miller of Camp Point, IL; and many loving nieces, nephews.
When she married her husband, Eric, Bonita gained a second family that she loved very much along with her own sisters in law, brother in law; and a very dear friend, Ellen McIntyre and her children, Sarah and Brian.

Mrs. Rodberg was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eric; and two brothers, Lloyd Lewis and Donald Lewis.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Monsignor Michael Kuse officiating.  Burial will be in Benville Cemetery near Mt. Sterling.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.

I have nothing but fond memories of Bonita created during the short periods she was present in my life. She was always kind and nurturing. I pray that God wraps his loving arms around all of you, family and friends, and comforts you as only He can. May you find peace in His love, your love, and the wonderful memories you hold in your hearts.
