   Bette E. Mester, 95, of Quincy, died at 2:20 p.m. Thursday (March 2, 2017) in Good Samaritan Home.

   Born January 17, 1922 in Quincy, Bette was the daughter of George and Irene Budde Thenhausen.  She married Eldon E. Mester on June 5, 1943 in Quincy.  He preceded her in death on February 6, 1991.

   Bette was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. Bette had a heart for animals, and especially loved her pet dog, Molly.  When she was younger, Bette loved bowling, being a member of many bowling leagues.  

   Bette devoted her life to raising her family and loved every moment she spent with them.  

   Bette had worked as a bookkeeper for Mester Cleaners which she and her husband Eldon operated from 1956 until 1977 and she was a manager at the Ben Franklin store in Quincy.

   Survivors include a son, Mark E. Mester (Jeri Waterman) of Quincy; a daughter, Pamela J. Mester of Aurora, IL; a granddaughter, Haley Mester of Quincy; a sister in law, Patricia Blume; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

   Bette was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Eldon; five sisters in law; and four brothers in law.

   The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers in the McReynolds Unit and Southern Court at Good Samaritan Home for the love and wonderful care given to Bette and her family during her stay.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with the Rev. Timothy White officiating.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Home.
