   Betty J. Durbin Jones, 86, of Quincy, died at 6:52 a.m. Thursday (March 9, 2017) in Sunset Home.

   Born March 25, 1930 in Brown County, Illinois, Betty was the daughter of Vern and Marjorie Putnam Durbin.  She married Clayton L. Jones  on March 27, 1948 in Quincy.  He preceded her in death on March 8, 1978.

   Betty enjoyed crocheting, arts and crafts and tending to her gardens.  She was devoted to her family and loved every moment she spent with them, especially on the many camping trips they made.

   Betty was employed as an L.P.N. for St. Mary Hospital and Blessing Hospital in Quincy for many years. In 1980,  she and her son, Randy, moved to Iowa where she worked as an L.P.N. until she became disabled, but she continued to help others by driving veterans to the V.A. Medical Centers in Iowa City, Iowa and Columbia, Missouri.

   Survivors include five children, Barbara Specht (Roy) of Quincy, Linda McNay (Donald) of Quincy, Larry Jones (Karen) of Quincy, Connie Smith (Jeffery) of Quincy and Randy Jones of Keokuk, Iowa; twelve grandchildren, Tammy Vaughn (Chris),  Christina Lawrence (Mark), Melissa Fritz (Jason), Jennifer McNay, Brent McNay, Kent McNay, Tania Dittmer (Brad), Ashley Holtschlag (Jonathan), Nathan Jones (Amanda), Eugene Jones,  Samuel Jones and Charles Jones (Alicia); twenty one great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren with another due in April; a sister, Maxine Riley (Thomas) of Higbee, MO; a brother in law, Larry Allen of Bloomington, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clayton; and a sister, Peggy Allen.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Carol Stufflebeam officiating.  Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to the Quincy Senior Center or Sunset Home.
