   Joseph "Joe" W. Schnepf, 71, of Quincy, died at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday (April 11, 2017) in his home.

   Born October 8, 1945, in Pike County, Illinois, Joe was the son of Carl L. and Maleta Maxine Sutton Schnepf.  He married Tonia A. Townsend on April 6, 1968.

   Joe was a 1963 graduate of Barry High School.  He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam Era.  Joe enjoyed gardening, grilling for his family and friends, horseback riding and riding his horses in the Dogwood Parade.  Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and loved being called "Grandpa".

   Joe was employed in the Registered Mail Department at the Quincy United States Post Office for over 30 years until his retirement.

   Survivors include Tonia A. Schnepf; a daughter, Tracy Jo Brown (Scott) of Liberty; one son, Jared Schnepf of Quincy; two grandchildren, Cole R. Brown of Liberty and Riley J. Howser of Quincy; four siblings, Connie Johnessee (Bill) of Springfield, IL, Dorthea Smith (Marvin) of Nauvoo, IL, Brenda Johnson (Richard) of Pittsfield, IL and Lyndel Schnepf of Barry; and several loving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

   Mr. Schnepf was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tamara A. Schnepf; a son, Jerry Schnepf; a brother, Jim Schnepf; and a sister, Caroline Schaffer.

   Gravside services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 in Greenmount Cemetery with Pastor Steve Disseler officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.

   There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the graveside services.

   Memorials may be made to the Joseph Schnepf Memorial Fund.

   The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
