Norma Jean Lierman, 86, returned to her heavenly home on May 3, 2017.  Devotion to family and firm belief in God supported her throughout her life and ultimately gave her peace.

Norma was born to the late Milton and Ruth Gille, owners of an insurance agency, in Quincy, Illinois on August 1, 1930.  She graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1947. She married Owen Lierman and lived in Peoria and Bloomington caring for 2 small children as Owen worked for State Farm Insurance.  The death of her father brought her back to Quincy where she and Owen took over her father’s insurance agency.

In 1974, Norma moved to Springfield where she became very active with a new church. She was a real prayer warrior including praying on the state capitol building’s steps every month.  Both she and Owen began a new spiritual journey towards closeness to God and openly shared it with all they met.  Norma is missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is finally reunited with her husband and at peace with her Creator.

Norma spent the last 6 years in Bloomington, Illinois at Westminster Village before becoming ill and moving to Martin Health Center in the same facility.  Her family and her good friends, Bill and Toni Gorrell were able to visit often.

Norma is survived by her son Don and his wife Louise who live in Zachary, Louisiana, grandsons Matthew, Jonathan and Christopher and his wife Megan, her great grandchildren, Charlie and Sam.  Also by her daughter Ruthanne Aves and her husband Steve who live in Bloomington, Illinois; two granddaughters Amanda Voigts and Michelle Haldi: and two great grandchildren, Reagan Haldi (4) and Brady Haldi (2) all living in Chicago.  Norma is preceded in death by her husband Owen in 2006.

Visitation and Celebration of Norma’s life will be held Saturday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, 1435 State Street, Quincy.

Graveside memorial services will be Saturday afternoon at 3:15 in the Woodland Cemetery in Quincy.

To the family and friends,

I am very sorry to hear of your loss. Second Corinthians 1:3, 4 says: " Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort,  who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God." God will bring our dead loved ones back to life. Please read Acts 24:15.
