EUGENE  "GENE"  HOLLER

   Eugene R. "Gene" Holler, 81, of Quincy, died at 12:52 p.m. Wednesday (June 21, 2017) in the Timberpoint Nursing Home in Camp Point, Illinois.

   Born March 24, 1936 in Palmyra, Missouri., Gene was the son of Waldo and Leta Kempf Holler. He married Marcia L. Bentley on August 13, 1955 in Palmyra, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2015.

   Gene was a past member of the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge No.100. He was a 1954 graduate of Quincy High School, where he excelled in basketball and football. He was later inducted into the Quincy High School basketball Hall of Fame. Gene was a well known fast pitch softball player throughout the tri-state region, playing for several different teams.  

   Gene was employed as a truck driver for the Moorman Manufacturing Company for 31 years until his retirement. After retiring, he drove for the Gem City Concrete Company for a few years.  He then enjoyed playing euchre in the local euchre tournaments, mushroom hunting and watching his grandchildren's sporting events.

   Survivors include a  son, Jeffrey Holler of Quincy, and a daughter, Julie Beebe of Quincy;   three grandchildren; Austin Beebe and Amber Beebe both of Quincy, IL., and Jason Holler (Kate) of Austin, TX.; two great grandchildren; Ayden Beebe of Quincy, IL. and Rowan Holler of Austin TX.

   Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Marcia.

   Cremation rites have been accorded to Mr. Holler. No services are planned at this time.

   The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

    Memorials may be made to Epidermolysis Bullosa Research.

Julie & Jeff ... you have my sympathy... will keep y'all in my thoughts and prayers. Have fond memories of your Mom and Dad at the old Moose on North 24th Street. Great People.
