CLEDA  D.  MASON

   Cleda D. Mason, 99, of Quincy, passed away at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday (August 29, 2017) at the Good Samaritan Home.

   Born March 29, 1918 in Jasper County, Illinois, Cleda was the daughter of Ola and Maude Estell Derrickson.  She married George E. Mason on August 23, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1998.

   Cleda was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She loved to sew and redecorate her home and will be remembered by her family as an excellent cook.

   Cleda devoted her life to raising her family and had also worked as a seamstress from her home.

   Survivors include her daughter, Pamela M. Foster of Quincy; two sons, Alfred Lee Mason (Laveda) of Quincy and Gregory Mason (Maria) of Chicago, IL; two grandsons, Brent Jones and Brett Jones; three step grandchildren, Angela Washburn, Colita Hawkins and Shari Williams; twelve step great grandchildren; five step great great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Cleda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; four sisters, Nellie Burnett, Beola Mae Prichette, Zelma Burnett and Helen Webb; and three brothers, Chester Derrickson, Virgil Derrickson and Alfred Derrickson.

   Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Martin Eden officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Friday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or Good Samaritan Home.
