RONALD WAYNE TRYON

   Ronald Wayne Tryon, 90 of Quincy died at 6:00 a.m. Tuesday (September 5, 2017) in the Illinois Veteran's Home.

   Born January 8, 1927 in Quincy, Ron was the son of Edwin and Muriel Schroeder Tryon.  He married Emma Rosa "Rosie" Long on September 1, 1951 in Quincy.  She preceded him in death on December 7, 1978.  

  Mr. Tryon proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1944 to 1945 where he was stationed in Japan during WWII.

A 1944 graduate of Quincy High School, Ron earned his Bachelors of Science with a major in finance from the University of Illinois. He was employed at Gem City Savings and Loan Association, retiring as the vice president. He then worked part time selling real estate and working for Red Wing shoes.

   Ron was a member Trinity United Church of Christ where he served as an Elder. He was a lifetime member of the Elks No. 100, and a former member of Spring Lake Country Club, the Y.M.C.A., the American Business Club and the Northside Businessman's Club.  

   Ron was a very accomplished racquetball and tennis player, winning numerous tournaments in both sports. He was also an avid golfer. Ron was a huge fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Bears, Fighting Ilini, the Quincy High School Blue Devils, holding season basketball tickets for over 50 years. Taking after his father, Ron loved flower gardening, with red roses being his favorite. He also enjoyed dancing and music ranging from the Big Band era, to Dixieland, to Country Western.

   Survivors include one son, R. Kim Tryon (Laura) of Bloomington, IL; one daughter Rhonda Tryon (John Dameron) of Bloomington, IL; his sister in law, Imogene Weston and his brother in law  J.B. Weston, both of Quincy; three grandchildren, Lindsay Sexton (Tyler), Brooks Tryon, and Kristi Tryon, all of Bloomington; Five great grandchildren, Ty Sexton, Emma Sexton, Luke Sexton, Lucy Sexton, and Ava Sexton all of Bloomington; his longtime companion Alberta Stoner, and a close friend Sandy Wittland.

   Mr. Tryon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother Alan Tryon.
    
    Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home with Pastor Tim White officiating.

    Visitation will be held Friday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

   Burial with flag presentation by the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be in Greenmount cemetery.

   The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Illinois Veteran's Home for their wonderful care and compassion.

   Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veteran's Home.

   The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

To Kim and the Tryon family; I'm sorry to learn of Ron's passing. He was always the picture of professionalism and was most gracious and kind. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
