   Robert W. O'Connor, 64, of Quincy, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, died at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday (October 4, 2017) in the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy.

   Born September 11, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois, Robert was the son of Robert J. and Nan O'Brien O'Connor.

   Robert served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years, earning the Navy Acheivement Medal, Navy Expeditionary Medal and a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

   Robert was of the Catholic Faith.  He enjoyed reading, watching movies and loved history, especially military history. Robert was a kind and gentle soul who loved being with his family and sending flowers to family members on special occasions.

   Surviving are two brothers, Brien O'Connor of Austin, TX and John O'Connor of Grayslake, IL; two sisters, Laurie Guagenti of Libertyville, IL and Mary Kay O'Connor of Fullerton, CA; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Robert was preceded in death by his parents.

   Cremation has been accorded to Robert. Memorial graveside services with Military Honors by the U. S. Navy Funeral Honor Guard and the Illinois Veteran's Home Honor Guard will be held Friday morning at 11:30 at Sunset Cemetery with Rev. Don Blickhan officiating.

   There is no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the services.

   Arrangements are in the care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.

   Memorial may be made to the Illinois Veteran's Home Activity Fund.
