NORMA  JEAN  YATES

    Norma Jean Yates, 88, of Quincy, died at 6:10 a.m. Wednesday (October 18, 2017) in Sunset Home.

   Born September 17, 1929 in Quincy, Norma was the daughter of Carl and Marie Gustison Porter.  She married Everett C. Yates Jr. on August 18, 1949 in Quincy.  He survives.

   Norma was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.  She loved arts and crafts and enjoyed painting ceramics, sewing and crocheting.

   Norma was employed at Woolworths when she was  younger.  She then devoted her life to raising and caring for her family.

   Survivors include her husband, Everett; two sons, Thomas Yates (Betty) of Quincy and Jeff Yates (Lisa) of Tulsa, OK; a daughter, Theresa Slothouber of Quincy; five grandchilden, Jill Kilver of Winchester, IL, Amy Sutton (Todd) of Winchester, IL, Amanda Armor (Joseph) of Houston, TX,  Stephanie Hendricks of Quincy and Tyler Hendricks (Evelyn) of Lewistown, MO; thirteen great grandchildren, Thomas Kilver, Sarah Kilver, Curtis Kilver, Kyle Sutton, Clair Sutton, Will Sutton, Sebastian Armor, Dominic Armor, Joseph Hendricks, Charles Jaynes, Kody Jaynes, Miranda Blakney and Gracie Blakney; and many loving nieces and nephews.

   Norma was preceded in death by her parents.

   Prayer services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church with Rev. Bob Barko officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning from 9:00 until the time of services at the funeral home.

   Memorials may be made to Sunset Home.
