Dear Betty and Family, I am so saddened to learn of the passing of Lee. I have so many fond memories of not only Lee but all of his family. Those memories go back to when I was in the 3rd grade and lived on S. 4th street in the same house that Frannie lived in.
Please know Betty that I know first hand the loss you are feeling but you also have great memories and it is those memories that will sustain you and keep you going and they can't be taken from you. Have Faith in God Betty, He will heal your hearts.  Love and Prayers to you and your family, Phil Yoe

Dear Aunt Betty and children and grandchildren
The Bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. It teaches that when a believer passes from this life into eternity, he leaves his earthly body behind and receives a new heavenly body, not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. This new body will never know pain, suffering, or death. We will be with the Lord forever, all troubles past and even the memory of any suffering has passed. We will be known as we are here, by our friends and family. How wonderful that the Lord took care of our eternal souls. Amen

What to say and where to start about a man like Uncle Lee there is not enough space and time, a man who led his life here on earth as he is going to now lead  in the kingdom of our creator ,God, the Almighty who we our sure has Uncle Lee by his hand introducing him to his new kingdom and all the glorious new wonders he will be missed daily by all who were privledged to have known him. A true American patriot who deeply loved his family, God and country. We will miss you we will try to lead our life. by the wonderful example you set here on earth Thanks for the man you were, so priviledeged to have called you Uncle. It is not easy loosing a Husband, Father and friend and we feel your sorrow and with your family in our thoughts and prayers. Martha Russell Phillips and family.

I grew up 3 houses down from Lee and his family on York Street between 3rd and 4th street. His daughters and my cousins were very close growing up. John and I were also friends growing up.Lee and Betty were and still are very good people.Betty, I am so sorry for your loss, but just remember Lee is in a much better place with our LORD and the rest or your family who went before him. There is no cancer or any kind of bad and non curable disease's in Heaven. Lee is in a happy place, and we will all see him soon.My thoughts and my heart is with you and your family.God Bless each of you.The Junkerman and Morrell families

I found Mr. Fortner's obituary while searching for information on the 186th Field Art Battallion, WW2.  My grandfather was an officer in that unit.  I cannot help but think that he may have served with Mr. Fortner.  God rest both their soles.
