
ADA R. HOPKINS
Mrs. Ada R. Hopkins, 90, of 1826 Harrison, Quincy, died at 2:59 p.m. Saturday (December 19, 2009) in her home.
Born June 8, 1919 in Adams County, Illinois, Ada was the daughter of Eli and Clara A. Hartman Clingingsmith. She married Robert C. Hopkins on October 25, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 3, 1979.
An avid Cubs fan, Ada also enjoyed bird watching and tending to her house plants.
Ada owned and operated a day care in her home for over 25 years until her retirement.
Survivors include three sons, Daniel Hopkins of Quincy, Ted Hopkins and his companion, Judy Rossmiller of Burton, IL and Gary Hopkins of Thornton, CO; a step grandchild, Robin Fessler and her husband Joe and their daughter, Joselyn all of Payson, IL; a sister in law, Janet Clingingsmith of Beaufort, S.C.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hopkins was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; a sister, Elsie Bowe; and three brothers, Richard Clingingsmith, Earl Clingingsmith and Orval Clingingsmith.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Chaplain Steve Disseler. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday until the time of services at the funeral home.
