ALFRED GEORGE DREYER

Mr. Alfred George Dreyer, 80, of Good Samaritan Home, formerly of Columbus, died at 9:55 a.m. Monday (August 6, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.

Born September 18, 1926 in Adams County, Illinois, Alfred was the son of George and Emma Steinkamp Dreyer. He married Virginia Mae Starman on October 28, 1947 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on February 8, 1999.

Mr. Dreyer was employed at Moorman Manufacturing for 25 years until his retirement in 1986. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and farming.

Survivors include a son, Larry Dreyer and his wife Christine of Quincy; four grandchildren, Beverly Dreyer and Landon Dreyer, both of Quincy, and Brian Dreyer and his wife Brandi and Bradley Dreyer, both of Ewing, MO.; three step grandchildren, Jeff Cummings of St. Charles, MO., Rusty Cummings of Bonne Terre, MO. and Karen Golay and her husband Darrel of Quincy; a step grandson in law, Phillip Menckowski of Coello, IL.; three great grandchildren, Cassandra Cookson of Quincy and Jayden Dreyer and Mikayla Dreyer, both of Ewing, MO.; four step great grandchildren, Brandi Cummings of Michigan, Shawn Menckowski and Sarah Menckowski of Coello, IL. and Maci Golay of Quincy; a brother, Norbert Dreyer and his wife Florence of Quincy; a sister, Theresa Stahl and her husband Meloy "Buddy" of LaGrange, MO.; a sister in law, Annamae Dreyer of Liberty and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dreyer was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a step granddaughter, Cindy Menckowski; four brothers, Maurice, Raymond, Eugene and Bill Dreyer; and a sister, Virginia Omer.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. George Tomko. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Thursday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
