ALMIRA J. DOUGLAS

Mrs. Almira J. Douglas, 80, of Quincy, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday (July 12, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.

Born December 30, 1926 in Webster, Illinois, Almira was the daughter of Francis and Minnie Mears. She married Harold J. Douglas on November 4, 1944 in Ft. Pierce, Florida. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1976.

Almira was a member of Madison Park Christian Church and enjoyed crafts.

A graduate of Carthage High School, Almira earned her Associate Degree from John Wood Community College after she turned 50. She was employed by the City of Quincy in the Circuit Clerks Office for many years until her retirement.

Survivors include two sons, Robert S. Douglas of Quincy and Ernest Douglas.

Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Virgil Mears; and two sisters, Almeda Mears and Jenny Jensen.

Graveside services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 in Greenmount Cemetery.

There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the services. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center.
