ANNA LOUISE BRIGHAM

Anna Louise Brigham, 91, of St. Vincent's Home, formerly of 2604 Chestnut, died at 10:20 a.m. Monday (May 14, 2007) in the home.

Born February 18, 1916 in Quincy, she was a daughter of Herman E. and Anna B. Bangert Dege. On November 18, 1938, she was married the Rev. John W. Brigham. He died January 23, 2004.

She graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1934, had college classes at Burlington, Iowa, Junior College, Tufts University, Medford, Mass., and received her Bachelor of Science degree in German and counseling from University of Rochester on June 6, 1971, where she was a secretary in the German Department. In 1968 she participated in a Jobs Abroad work - study program in Switzerland.

During the ministries of her husband in Unitarian Universalist churches, they lived in Castine, Maine; Billerica, Mass.; Sioux City, Iowa; Burlington, Iowa; Arlington, Mass.; Rochester, NY. and Quincy. Their travels included two trips to Europe: to a conference in Heidelberg, Germany, and to visit friends in Germany, Switzerland and Greece.

An avid stamp collector, Anna Louise prepared an extended study of "Unitarians and Universalists on Stamps" which is accessible on the Quincy Unitarian Church Website. In various locations, she reached out and included others in educational and service activities. She was a member of the Quincy Unitarian Church, the Women's Alliance and the Quinsippi Stamp Club.

Survivors include three sons, Lawrence W. and his wife, Mary, of Morrow, Ohio; Jeremy J. and his wife, Selma, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Daniel G. and his wife, Donna, of Canandaigua, NY. There are six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Three sisters survive. They are Frieda Marshall (Floyd) of Quincy, Clara Lily White of Springfield, IL. and Patsy Rose Hoshiko (Michael) of Edwardsville, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Betty May Dege and Bertha Danhaus. There are eleven nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held in the Quincy Unitarian Church on August 18, 2007.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Quincy Unitarian Church Memorial Fund, St. Vincent's Home, or the Walter-Hammond Day Care Center, all in Quincy.
