ANNABELLE WILKES

Mrs. Annabelle Wilkes, 90, of the North Adams Home in Mendon formerly of Quincy, died at 6:50 a.m. Friday (September 14, 2007) in the North Adams Home.

Born December 13, 1916 in Quincy, Annabelle was the daughter of Emil and Gertrude Knuffman Pfaffe. She married Floyde M. Wilkes on August 16, 1941 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1985.

Mrs. Wilkes was a member of Faith Christian Church and was active at the Senior Citizens Center. Annabelle was devoted to her family and took her greatest joy in making a loving and caring home for them.

Mrs. Wilkes attended Quincy Public Schools. She was employed at the Se-ling Hosiery Mill in Quincy for many years and later as a nurses aid at the Christian Shelter Care and then as a custodian at Klingner & Associates until her retirement in 1985.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Jurgens and her husband Paul of Mendon, IL.; a son, Terry W. Wilkes and his wife Lois Jean of Prairie Home, Missouri; seven grandchildren, John Wilkes and his wife Jeanette of Columbia, MO., Lora Lesniak of California, MO., Alberta Wilkes of Polo, MO., Todd Jurgens and his wife Denna of Brown City, MI., and Kent Jurgens, Dana Jurgens and Ryan Jurgens all of Mendon, IL.; eight great grandchildren, Todd Jurgens Jr., Melanie Jurgens and Zakkery Jurgens all of Brown City, MI., Kyle Lesniak, Mark Lesniak and Katy Lesniak all of California, MO., and Trinity Frazier and Chloe Frazier both of Ozark, MO.; a sister, Elizabeth Heidloff and her husband Wilbur "Joe" of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyde; five brothers, William Schweitzer, Emil Pfaffe, Herman Pfaffe, Frederick Pfaffe and Oliver Pfaffe; and ten sisters, Lily Pfaffe, Grace Pfaffe, Adeline Pfaffe and Mary Pfaffe all in infancy and Emma Westbrook, Hattie Slater, Mildred Miles, Wilhemina Williams, Gertrude Luecken and Caroline Stice

Graveside services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 in Greenmount Cemetery by Pastor Richard Martin.

There is no visitation, but friends are invited to the services. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy is handling the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Faith Christian Church to honor Mrs. Wilkes.
