ARTHUR L. SCHALK

Mr. Arthur L. Schalk, 89, of 1224 Jersey, died at 5:55 p.m. Friday (April 22,2005) at the Illinois Veterans Home.

Born December 29, 1915 in Quincy, Mr. Schalk was the son of Frank and Catherine Schalk. He married Ruth C. Ward on October 11, 1947 in Hannibal, Missouri. She survives.

Mr. Schalk served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II. He was a former member of the V.F. W. and American Legion.

Mr. Schalk farmed for many years on the family farm near Ewing, Missouri and also worked as a truck driver and drove school buses.

Surviving is his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Kathryn Miller and her husband Donald of Quincy; two grandchildren, Amy Behrensmeyer and her husband Andy of Quincy and Jeremy Miller of Mendon; three great grandchildren, Shelby Behrensmeyer and Shannon Behrensmeyer both of Quincy and Katelyn Miller of Mendon; two brothers, Robert Schalk and his wife Fern of Taylor Ridge, IL. and Frank Schalk of Preemption, IL.; a sister, Carlene Adams of Viola, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schalk was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joseph Schalk; and a sister, Mildred Forrester.

Graveside services with military honors by Quincy American Legion Post 37 will be held Monday morning at 11:30 in Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. Timothy White.

Visitation will be Monday morning from10:00 to 11:15 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Activity Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
