ARTHUR C. WITTE
Mr. Arthur C. Witte, 74, of RR 4, Quincy, died at 11:34 p.m. Wednesday (July 6, 2005) in University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Born June 24, 1931 in Quincy, Art was the son of Arthur F. and Katherine Mae Hagen Witte. He married Wilma A. Menzel on June 1, 1957 in Quincy. She died on June 16, 2005.
Art was an active member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ where he had served on the church council and was a member of the Men's Brotherhood and the Couples Club. He was also active with the Word of Life Prison Ministry and served on the John Wood Community College Board of Trustees for six years. He served his country in the U. S. Navy at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital. His love for the Lord led him to help others in many ways.
Art was a 1949 graduate of Quincy High School and a 1953 graduate of the University of Illinois. He was employed in the Research Department at Moorman Manufacturing before farming for many years in Adams and Pike Counties.
Surviving are two sons, Arthur H. Witte and his wife LuAnn of Payson and H. Douglas Witte and his wife Mindy of Columbia, MO.; six grandchildren, Samuel Witte, Jordan Witte, Luke Witte, Christian Witte, Seth Witte and Grace Witte all of Payson; a sister, Dorothy Spurgeon of Joliet, IL.; a brother, Allan W. Witte and his wife Mary of Quincy; a sister in law, Willeyne Harper and her husband Karl of Plainville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Witte was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one son, Andrew Scott Witte.
Graveside services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 at Greenmount Cemetery by Rev. Wanda Seydel.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 3:00 until 6:30 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.
