ARTHUR R. TURNER

Aruthur R. Turner, 84, of the Illinois Veteran's Home formerly of Peoria died at 7:04 a.m. Saturday (January 23, 2010) in the home. He had been a resident at the home since 1981.

Born August 23, 1925 in Peoria, Art was the son of Herbert and Edna Cora Stear Turner. He married Carol Jean McKeever on August 13, 1975 in Quincy. She survives.

Art enjoyed collecting stamps and trains. He served his country in the Navy during World War II. He was employed on River Barges on the Mississippi River, the Railroad and the Illinois Farm Supply in Peoria until his retirement.

Survivors include his wife Carol, one son Larry Wayne Turner and his wife Rosetta of Pekin, IL; one sister Jeanette Mason and her husband Harold of West Peoria, IL and one sister in law Ruth Turner of Peoria.

Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Bernard Arthur Turner, four brothers Herbert Turner, Leonard Turner, Kenneth Turner and Chester Turner and one sister Edna Bishop.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the All Faiths Chapel at the Illinois Veteran's Home with Rev. John Adams officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery with full military honors.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 at the All Faiths Chapel and Tuesday morning from 9:00 until the time of services.
