Mrs. Barbara A. Walton, 94, of the University Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Edwardsville, IL., formerly of Kellerville, IL., died at 6:25 a.m. Monday (March 19, 2007) in the home in Edwardsville.

Born February 22, 1913 in McKee Township, Barbara was the daughter of George J. and Theresa M. Schmidt Smith. She married Lawrence A. Walton on June 16, 1929 in Promise City, IA. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Walton was employed at the Kellerville Library as a librarian for 12 years.

Surviving is a daughter, Mary T. Craft and her husband Robert; a daughter in law, Judy Walton; six grandchildren, Marta Emery and her husband James, Lawrence A. Walton III and his wife Ellen, Darrell A. Craft, Pamela R. Martinez and her husband Ben, Robert L. Craft and his wife Lindsey, and Krystyna Freeman and her husband Craig; ten great grandchildren; and a brother, August Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Lawrence A. Walton Jr. and Donald W. Walton; a great granddaughter, Marissa Martinez, and a brother, George Smith.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Robert Craft. Burial will be in the Paloma Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 at the funeral home.
