BECKY JO HAYDEN

Becky Jo Hayden, 52, of 1131 S. 26th, passed away Wednesday (September 14, 2005) in her home.

Born September 7, 1953 in Pittsfield, Becky was the daughter of James "Jack" and Winnifred "Winnie" Dial Hayden.

Becky graduated from Payson Seymour High School in 1971 and from Illinois College in Jacksonville in 1975. While in college, she was a member of Gamma Delta Literary Society, the Hilltoppers Theatrical Society, the national theater fraternity Alpha Psi Omega, and played in the college band. She was a member of the Payson United Methodist Church.

Becky worked in nursing home administration in Jacksonville before returning to John Wood Community College to pursue her LPN degree which she earned in 1983. A certified pharmacy technician, she had worked the past 23 years in the Blessing Hospital Pharmacy.

Becky enjoyed being with people and loved all animals. She also enjoyed counted cross stitch, reading, traveling, watching TV, listening to music and spending time with her nieces.

Survivors include her mother, Winnie Hayden of Quincy; a sister, Beth Vortman and her husband Allan of Kewanee, IL; a niece Jennifer Vortman of Arlington, VA; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Becky was preceded in death by her father, Jack; her grandparents; a sister, Sherry Hayden; a niece, Erica Vortman; and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 in the Payson United Methodist Church by the Rev. Ron Cox.

Visitation will be Saturday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy and Sunday from 12:30 until the time of services at the church.

Graveside services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in the Holton Cemetery in Holton, Kansas.

Memorials may be made to the Payson United Methodist Church or the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
