BESSIE L. MARSHALL

Bessie L. Marshall 72, of Payson, died at 10:20 p.m. Friday (November 30, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.

Born June 8, 1935 in Springfield, IL Bessie was the daughter of LeRoy and Bessie Williams Sparks. She married B. Gale Marshall on March 26, 1970 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1993.

Bessie was a member of the Plainville United Methodist Church where sang in the church choir. She was a past president of the Payson American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Payson Senior Citizens.

Bessie worked as a cook and waitress and then was employed as a teachers aide for several years at the Payson Grade School. She later worked as a home health aide until her retirement.

Survivors include a son Keith Guyatt and his wife Denise of Concord, NC; a daughter Alice Castelman and her husband Richard of Springfield, IL; a step daughter Sally Skirvin and her husband Larry of Barry; a step son Bruce Marshall and his wife Tammy of Liberty; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a sister Helen Goehl and her husband William of Montrose, IA

Bessie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Michael James Sparks and step son Brad Marshall.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 pm in the Plainville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Stacy Tomich. Burial will be in Payson New Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. in the Plainville United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Plainville United Methodist Church.
