BETTY L. WHEELER
Mrs. Betty L. Wheeler, 79, of 2121 Harrison, died at 6:21 p.m. Sunday (September 2, 2007) in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Born July 11, 1928 in Hull, Illinois, Betty was the daughter of Arnie and Mallie Hartsorn McNett. She married Bob Fantz on July 14, 1946 in Hull, Illinois. He died December 22, 1973. She married Virgil R. Wheeler Sr. on June 14, 1975 in Quincy. He died March 4, 1991. For the past several years, Betty has shared her life with a very special friend, Nick Weisinger.
Betty was a member of the United Baptist Church of Kinderhook and was a 50 year member of the Pittsfield Chapter 195 Order of Eastern Star. Betty enjoyed traveling and loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Betty was employed for 17 years in the Dietary Department at the Illinois Veteran's Home. She retired in 1991.
Survivors include a daughter, Christi May and her husband Robert of Kissimmee, FL.; her special friend, Nick Weisinger of Payson; a sister, Carol Parsons and her husband Kenneth of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews including, Pat Hoskins and her husband Jack, Sharon Pike, Terry McNett, Katie Ripper, Karen Robinson, Jody Hartman, Joy Gray, Arnie McNett, Donna Brown, Jill Schulten and Linda Daniel.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and seven brother and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 in the United Baptist Church in Kinderhook by Pastor Greg Maize and Pastor Rick Welch. Burial will be in the Kinderhook Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Quincy and Thursday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at the church in Kinderhook.
In lieu of flowers, Betty's wish was for donations to be made to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or to honor her by having a tree planted in her memory.
