
BILL L. GRIFFITH
Mr. Bill Lee Griffith, 76, of 817 South 6th, died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday (October 18, 2005) in his home.
Born December 31, 1928 in Quincy, Bill was the son of Marion Jack and Helen Hope Gavin Griffith. He married Sarah Miller on April 15, 1962 in Quincy. She survives
Bill was of the Catholic Faith and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed working in his yard, but his greatest joy came in spending time with his grandchildren.
Bill worked as a barber at Lloyd's Barber Shop on North 6th street for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah; a son, Darren Lee Gavin Griffith of Quincy; two daughters, Lori Orr and her husband Robert and Michelle Scheuermann and her husband Sean both of Quincy; four grandchildren, Andrew Robert Orr , Sarah Ann Hope Orr, Samuel Griffith Scheuermann and Eden Olivia Scheuermann all of Quincy; four sisters, Marilyn Griffith, Norma Ames, Shirley Cain and Patricia Mehl and her husband Kenneth all of Quincy; two sisters in law, Evelyn Griffith of Aurora, CO. and Mary Griffith of Hannibal, MO.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, James, Tom, Paul and Charles Griffith; a sister in law, Alice Griffith; and two brothers in law, Melvin Cain and Byrl Ames.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Tom Hagstrom. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post #37 will be in Sunset Cemetery in Quincy.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Friday until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the grandchildren's educational fund.
