Mr. Bill J. Schaffer, 79, of the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Missouri, formerly of Quincy, died at 2:15 a.m. Thursday (November 10, 2005) at the Veterans Hospital in Mexico.
Born February 11, 1926 in Quincy, Bill was the son of Julius H. and Glenna Dinning Schaffer.
Bill served his country in the U. S. Navy during WW II.
Bill was employed as a tool and die maker at McDonnell Aircraft Company in St. Louis and later co-owned K & S Waste Management in St. Charles, MO.
Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Pires and her husband Richard of St. Charles, MO.; a son, Rick Schaffer and his wife Deena of Leawood, KS.; a grandson, Phillip Pires of St. Charles, MO.; a brother, Richard "Dick" Schaffer and his wife Marilyn of Quincy; a sister, Betty Brosi of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Schaffer was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maxine Kealen; and two brothers in law, Les Brosi and Eddie Kealen.
Graveside services with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post 37 will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 in Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. Kenn Leischner.
There will be no visitation, but friends are invited to the services. The Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
