Robert W. "Bob" Lohr, 69 , of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Sunday (May 14, 2006) in the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
Born May 21, 1936, Bob was the son of Robert and Eula Wardlow Lohr. He married his high school sweetheart Ruth Rose on June 21, 1956. She survives.
Bob graduated from Quincy High School in 1954 and attended Northwestern University. He enjoyed golf, fishing, reading, music and humor. He was an avid Kansas Jayhawk, KC Royals and Chiefs fan.
Bob was a licensed real estate broker in Kansas and Missouri. He began his real estate career in 1967 representing Durwood Theaters and Durwood's Downtown Redevelopment. He later joined The Land Source in September of 2002 and was Executive Vice President. He was the Realtor/Broker of the year for the KC Metro Board in 1989 and winner of the Distinguished Service Award in 1994 from the Missouri Association of Realtors and received the Distinguished Service Award in 2006 form the KC Real Estate Board.
He was very active in professional and civic organizations. He served as President of the KC Junior Chamber of Commerce, 5 County March of Dimes, Brookridge Country Club and as a board member of several other organizations.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cindy Borgstadt and her husband Thad of Lenexa, KS. and Suzie Watkins of Tulsa, OK.; a son, Duke Lohr and his wife Jill of Leawood, KS.; six grandchildren, Nicki, Jenny, Luke, Cacy, Kristin and Mitch; two great grandchildren, Tayla and T.J.; a sister, Sandy Flachsbarth and her husband Lee of Lawrence, KS.; two sisters in law, Marjorie Hageman and her husband Bill of Quincy and Do Heitholt and her husband Bill of Cuba, MO.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:0 noon at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow in Greenmount Cemetery with Rev. Leland Uden officiating.
