BONNIE L. HAMPSMIRE

Mrs. Bonnie L. Hampsmire, 76, of Fowler, Illinois, died at 7:15 a.m. Thursday (January 17, 2008) in Country Aire Retirement Estates in Lewistown, Missouri.

Born January 22, 1931 in Quincy, Bonnie was the daughter of Robert Edward "Ed" and Marjorie Eden Burks. She first married Donald Hampsmire on November 8, 1950 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He died July 14, 1991. She later married Sylvan Brumbaugh on June 28, 1997 in Quincy. He survives.

Bonnie was a member of Madison Park Christian Church and a 1948 graduate of Quincy High School. She enjoyed square dancing and boot kicking. She especially enjoyed antiquing and restoring and refinishing antique furniture.

Bonnie had been employed as a telephone operator for Illinois Bell and later as a switchboard operator at Blessing Hospital.

Survivors include two daughters Donna Logan of Kalispell, MT, and Mary B. Wild and her husband Keith of Fowler; two sons Terry Hampsmire and his wife Linda of Mendon and Gary Hampsmire and his wife Laura of Ewing, MO; eight grandchildren, Jared Wild of Fowler, Broc Hampsmire and his wife Rachel of Quincy, Melissa Obert and her husband Andrew of Mendon, Jessica Logan of Kalispell, MT., Airman Alex Logan serving with the U.S. Air Force stationed in Charleston, S.C., Susan Goudschaal and her husband Josh of Ursa, Jason Byrd of Florida and Robert Byrd of Mendon; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Billie Hoffer and her husband Arlo of Ewing, MO.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don and a sister Geraldine Simonson.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Pastor Bruce Willard. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and until the time of services at the funeral home on Monday.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association or to Blessing Cancer Center.
