
CHARLES A. "C.A." McGEE
Mr. Charles A. "C. A." McGee, 78, of Quincy, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday (April 9, 2008) at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.
Born February 17, 1930 in Columbia, Missouri, C. A. was the son of Auris Martin and Joye Dove DuVall McGee Sr. He married Myra Niemann on February 27, 1949 at Luther Memorial Church. She survives.
Mr. McGee was a member of Luther Memorial Church, Herman Masonic Lodge No. 39, Quincy Consistory and Alpha Chapter 109 Order of Eastern Star. Mr. McGee enjoyed reading, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles and paint by number and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball and Orlando Magic basketball fan. C.A. will be remembered for his sense of humor and the many jokes he told. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed wintering with his wife in Florida, but he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. McGee began a 38 year career in the Trucking Industry with Orscheln Brothers Truck Lines until 1958 when he became the President of Teamsters Local 21. In 1981 he became the business agent for Local
688 in St. Louis, Missouri until his retirement in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Myra; two sons, Michael McGee and his wife Gretchen of Quincy and William McGee and his wife Lynda of Orlando, FL.; a daughter, Marcia Clarke and her husband Eugene Jr. of Quincy; five grandchildren, Stephen McGee with Beth Mazza, Laura Gramke and her husband Stephen, Ellen Perrine, Molly Rollins and her husband Matt and Andrew Foutes; seven great grandchildren, Karra McGraw, Zoe McGee, Jackson McGraw, Autumn Foutes, Lilly Rollins, Sophie Gramke and Jake Perrine; a brother, Glen R. McGee of Quincy; a sister, Edith Brace of Barry, IL.; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. McGee was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson in law, David Perrine; a brother, Auris McGee; and a sister, Bettie Evans Moss.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 in Luther Memorial Church by the Rev. Leland Uden. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Wednesday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at Luther Memorial Church. Herman Masonic Lodge will conduct services Tuesday evening at 7:00 in the funeral home.
