CARL E. SCHROEDER

Mr. Carl E. Schroeder, 79, of North Ft. Myers, Florida., formerly of Quincy, died at 5:20 a..m. Wednesday (July 20, 2005) in the Hospice House in Cape Coral, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder moved to Florida in 2001.

Born January 9, 1926 in Taylor, Missouri, Carl was the son of Earl & Fluvia Schaffer Schroeder. He lived his teen
years with his great uncle and great aunt Joe and Elizabeth Schroeder. He married Evelyn Winking on April 21, 1956. She survives.

Mr. Schroeder was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Cape Coral, Florida and a former member of the Quincy Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking and painting arts and crafts. Mr. Schroeder served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II.

He was employed at Black and White Limestone Company before becoming an assembler for Harris Corp. for 22 years until his retirement in 1988. He then worked at Abbott Automotive until his retirement in 2000. Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder also were co-owners of Arlene's Catering Service in Quincy for 22 years.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; a son, Carl R. Schroeder and his wife Jeanine of Cape Coral, FL.; two daughters, Betty Hopkins and her husband Tracy of Cape Coral, FL. and Brenda Arp and her husband Todd of Troy, MO.; five grandchildren, Tiffany Schroeder of Cape Coral, FL., Dustin Schroeder of Quincy; Lauren Hopkins and Logan Hopkins both of Cape Coral, FL. and Shaun Arp of Troy, MO.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Schroeder was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:00 in St. Mary Catholic Church.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Wednesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Cremation rites will be accorded to Mr. Schroeder following the services. Private inurnment will be held in St. Anthony Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to the Hospice House of Cape Coral, Florida and may be left at the funeral home.
