CARTER L. MILES

Mr. Carter Leigh Miles, 59, of 521 E. 1050th, Payson, died at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday (October 30, 2007) in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital.

Born December 30, 1947 in Hillsboro, Illinois, Carter was the son of Raymond and Kathryn Rapp Miles. He married Honeybee Davis on October 11, 1974 in Hillsboro, Illinois. She survives.

Mr. Miles was a member of Bluff Hall United Church of Christ, the National Rifle Association and the Heritage Foundation. He served his country in the Illinois Air National Guard. Carter enjoyed woodworking but loved to spend time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Carter graduated as Valedictorian from Pana High School. He was a self employed carpenter for over 40 years.

Survivors include, Honeybee; two daughters, Traci Tangy and her husband Jeff of Quincy and Shannon McGee of Payson; a son, First Class Petty Officer Seth Miles and his wife Desiree serving in the U. S. Navy stationed in Virginia Beach, VA.; four grandchildren, Izabelle McGee, Gabrielle McGee, Adison Tangy and a grandson due in February; a brother, Rev. Richard Miles and his wife Betty of Nokomis, IL.; a sister, Sherry Dye and her husband Brad of Springfield, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Miles was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Darrell Miles and Wesley Miles.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home in Payson by the Rev. Richard Miles and the Rev. Lester "Chuck" Miles.. Burial will be in Bluff Hall Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Monday until the time of services at the funeral home in Payson.
