CHARLES RUSSELL HAERLE
Mr. Charles Russell Haerle, 91, of 2311 Harrison, died at 2:11 p.m. Saturday (March 24, 2007) in the home of his daughter at 3821 Stonegate Drive.
Born June 29, 1915 in Quincy, Mr. Haerle was the son of Russell and Margaret Shackleton Haerle. He married Mildred Wade on January 18, 1941. She preceded him in death on October 25, 1999.
Chuck was a member of Madison Park Christian Church where he was active with the Ever Ready Sunday School Class and the Senior Sonshiner's. An accomplished drummer, Chuck played for many local Jazz Bands. He loved his church family very much and enjoyed fishing, woodworking and woodcarving, but his greatest joy came in spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A graduate of Quincy High School and Gem City Business College, Chuck served his country as a Chief Warrant Officer in the U. S. Army for 22 years, retiring in 1960. He then worked at Electric Wheel as office pay master and in the Insurance Department until his retirement in 1978.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Nicloy and her husband Roger of Quincy; two grandchildren, Russ Nicloy and his wife Emily of Waukesha, WI. and Mike Nicloy of Pewaukee, WI.; two great grandchildren, Charlie Nicloy and Abby Nicloy both of Waukesha, WI.; a sister, Lucy Nelson of Quincy; a sister in law, Helen Whittington of Atlanta, GA.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Haerle was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred; a brother, John Haerle; and a brother in law, Doc Whittington.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 in Madison Park Christian Church by Chuck Sackett. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post 37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and Tuesday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at Madison Park Christian Church.
