CHARLES S. KELLE

Mr. Charles S. Kelle, 86, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Quincy, died at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday (May 13, 2008) in Christian Health Care Center in Republic, Missouri.

Born July 25, 1921 in Quincy, Charles was the son of John J. and Ellen Marie Adair Kelle. He married Mildred "Millie" Smith on January 14, 1950 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on December 18, 2004.

Mr. Kelle served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Charles and his wife enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Gem Dandies and Silver Dollars Square Dancer's. He was a Die Hard Cubs Fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Kelle was employed at Gardner Denver Company for 43 years, retiring in 1983.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Pruitt of Springfield, MO.; two grandchildren, Josh Puebla and Jake Puebla both of Springfield, MO.; two brothers, Eugene Kelle and his wife Suzanne and Richard Kelle both of Quincy; a sister, Dorothy Cookson of Whitefish Bay, WI.; two sisters in law, Joyce Kelle of Quincy and Barb Kelle of Indianapolis, IN; a brother in law, Charles Hull of Florida; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Kelle was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Millie; a son, Jeffery M. Kelle; two brothers, Marvin Kelle and Paul Kelle; three sisters, Carol Goodson, Edith Hull and Eleanor Kelle; a sister in law, Marilyn Kelle; and two brothers in law, Charles Cookson and Dick Goodson.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Ivan Greuter. Burial with Military Honors by Quincy American Legion Post 37 will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Monday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
