CHARLES WILLIAM SPECKHART

Mr. Charles W. Speckhart, 87, of Good Samaritan Home, died at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday (April 30, 2008) in the home.

Born October 24, 1920 in Fall Creek Township, Charles was the son of John J. and Nellie Ruby Speckhart. He married Grace Louise Politsch on March 10, 1957 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on April 23, 1997.

Mr. Speckhart was an active member of the First Church of Christ Science. He was on the board of directors, church treasurer and served as sunday school superintendent and teacher. He was a former member of the Adams County Farm Bureau. When he was over eighty years old Charles learned to read music and began playing the coronet, clarinet, saxophone, and trumpet.

Charles lived and farmed on the family farm in Fall Creek Township all his life. He retired in 1995 and moved to Quincy.

Survivors include several cousins and his church family.

Mr. Speckhart was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, John Russell Speckhart; and one sister, Velma M. Speckhart.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Private graveside services will be held Tuesday at Bluff Hall Cemetery with Scott Walden officiating.
