CHARLES O. WELLS SR.

Mr. Charles O. Wells Sr., 78, of 2636 Lind, died at 4:22 p.m. Saturday (November 19, 2005) in Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, MO.

Born June 26, 1927 in Adams, IL., Charles was the son of Earl and Pearl Sparks Wells. He married Bonnie Calligan on June 6, 1949 in Palmyra, MO. She died in 1971.

Charles was a very giving person who cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, cooking, fishing, and especially loved to coon hunt.

He was employed for 14 years at Hutchinson's 66 in Palmyra, MO. and then at the Wells and Hathaway DX Station for several years. He later operated the Wells Mobile Station in Palmyra for several years and then was employd at the Kingsford Charcoal in Belle, MO. for several years. He then was employed at Leeser Trucking Company for several years until his retirement.

Surviving are two sons, Charles O. Wells Jr. and his wife Kala of Peru, IN. and Kevin Wells of Hannibal, MO.; a daughter, Robin Haines and her husband Kenny of Owensville, MO.; six grandchildren, Amy Haines and Kenny Haines, both of Owensville, MO., Amber Jones and her husband Greg and J Wells and his wife Michelle, all of Palmyra, MO., and Hilary Perkins and Heather Perkins, both of Hannibal, MO.; six great grandchildren, Zach Jones, Courtney Jones, Corie Wells, Brendon Wells, Garrett Wells and Cameron Perkins; four nephews; one niece; his beloved pet Daisy; and special friends, Larry Higgins, Earl Wierschem, John and Judy Hoffman, Jeanne Goodwin and Matt and Sara, all of Quincy, Rosie McAlister of Palmyra, MO., and Stacey Fishback and Ken Zeugin, both of Owensville, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald E. Wells and Kermit R. Wells.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Rebecca Dunger Peak and Rev. Dewayne Larenson. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 and Tuesday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.
