Mr. Chester Alender, 82, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of 1591 Winnetka St., Dixon, IL., died Sunday (February 11, 2007) in the home in Quincy.
Born August 16, 1925 Chester was the son of Andy and Edrie Alender.
Chester served his country in the U.S. Marines during WWII. He was employed as a maintenance man at Northwestern Steel and Wire Company for 30 years.
Surviving are four sons, Larry Branson of Sterling, IL., Oscar Pace and his wife Kathy of Chesterton, IN., Allen Alender and his wife Karla of Prophestown, IL., and Paul Pace of Indiana; three daughters, Sandra Bennett and her husband Leroy of Dixon, IL., Sheila Fordyce of Grand Detour, IL., and Edryss Alender of Missouri; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond Alender and his wife Maribelle of Vandalia, IL.
Mr. Alender was preceded in death by parents of Shobonier, IL.; his wife, Lillie Alender of Tampico, IL.; and two sisters, Sibley Johnson and Barbara Ruppe, both of Shobonier, IL.
Cremation rites were accorded to Mr. Alender. Private family services will be held at a later date.
