
CLARA C. LEDIG
Mrs. Clara C. Ledig, 96, of St. Vincent's Home, formerly of 626 Monroe, died at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday (May 3, 2006) in Blessing Hospital.
Born June 4, 1909 in Quincy, Clara was the daughter of Alois and Tecla Miller Schulte. She married Lewis A. Ledig on January 9, 1928 in Quincy. He died in 1985.
Clara was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a former member of the Alter Society.
She was employed as a switchboard operator for the Illinois Bell Telephone Company for several years until her retirement.
Surviving is her daughter, Betty Stehl and her husband Richard of Quincy; four grandchildren, Brent Stehl and his wife Lisa, Glenn "Bill" Stehl and Sandra Wells and her husband Steve, all of Quincy and Peggy Genenbacher and her husband James of Fowler; twelve great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; four brothers, Ollie Schulte, Don Schulte and his wife Rita and Ed Schulte and his wife Vivian, all of Quincy and Virgil Schulte and his wife Betty of Latrobe, PA.; two sisters, Marie Degitz of Macomb, IL. and Marjorie Stark of Elmwood, IL.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two grandsons, Rick and Bruce Stehl; six brothers; Bernard, Herman, Albert and Tony Schulte and two in infancy; and a sister, Dora Kemner.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 at the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and at 10:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church by Monsignor Michael Kuse. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 and Monday morning until the time of services at the funeral home. A Christian Wake service will be held Sunday evening at 4:00.
