CLIFFORD DAVIS

Mr. Clifford Davis, 92, of 807 Madison, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday (September 3, 2006) in the home of his granddaughter, Dawn Hinds and her husband Karl in Fowler, Illinois.

Born January 10, 1914 in Quincy, Clifford was the son of Edward and Emma Canady Davis. He married Juanita V. Reed on April 21, 1935 in Quincy. She died August 28, 1981.

Mr. Davis was a member of Union United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and quilting. During WW II he worked with the Army Engineers in Alaska and later for Santa Fe Railroad maintaining troop trains in Winslow, Arizona.

Mr. Davis was employed at Central Fiber Products for 24 years and then for Moorman Manufacturing in the Maintenance Department for over 17 years. He retired in 1976.

Survivors include a son, Richard E. Davis and his wife Deloris of Quincy; two daughters, Phyllis Jean Feld and her husband William of Imperial, MO. and Karen Kay Kalberer of Quincy; nine grandchildren, Debbie Walkenshaw, Chris Kalberer, Dawn Hinds and her husband Karl, Jeff Wagner, Marilou Butler and her husband Jim, Billy Feld, Laura Jean Sandidge and her husband Alan, Robert Brent Davis and his wife Sandy and Richard Davis Jr.; nine great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend and companion, Wilma Kaiser of Quincy.

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers, Alvin Davis, Harold Davis, Carol Davis, Virgil Davis and Henry Davis; and four sisters, Katherine Johnson, Edna Hoke, Pansy Stice and Opal Hughes.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Morwell. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 and Thursday until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Union United Methodist Church or the Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
