
CLIFFORD F. WINANS JR.
Mr. Clifford F. Winans Jr., 79, of the Illinois Veterans Home, formerly of Lebanon, IL., died at 10:56 a.m. Friday (April 6, 2007) in Blessing Hospital.
Born February 1, 1928, in St. Louis, Mo., Clifford was the son of Clifford and Elma Zaring Winans Sr.
Mr. Winans was a Veteran of World War II and retired Chief Yard Clerk with the Southern Railway.
Surviving are his children, Bonnie Winans of Granite City, IL; Scott Winans and his wife Eva of Las Cruces, NM; Steven Winans of Jacksonville, Fla.; Cliff Winans of Warner-Robbins Georgia; Kevin Winans and his wife Carol of Marine, IL; Patricia Apponey and her husband Chip of Staunton, IL; Ronald Winans of Staunton, IL; and Robin Winans of Staunton, IL; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his brother, Charles Winans and his wife Maxine of Hobe Sound, FL; his sister, Mary Anne Niemann and her husband Randy of Port St. Lucie, FL, his sister-in-law, Norma Winans of Des Moines, IA.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Carol A. Mason and a brother, Donald Winans.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 in the St. Cecelia Catholic Church by Rev. Joe Kerber in Glen Carbon, IL. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
Visitation will be held Thursday morning from 10:00 until the time of services at the Church.
